Working from: a tiny village

Where’s the BEST place to #WFA? (Work from anywhere)

Let’s step out into the big wide (local) world of Cambridgeshire.

Why? to find the best spot for working of course!

My first stop: a park bench in a tiny little village.

Positives

Quietness: The sound of the countryside is… quiet.

About 50db, in fact.

It’s actually the birds that stop it from being quieter.

For a nerdy fact, 70db is about the level of a typical shared office.

Nature: Getting a blast of Vitamin D, fresh air and extra steps must be a good thing.

Plus, you’ll spot new things too.

For a brief moment, I shared the path with two deer - sweet!

Negatives

Power: Having nowhere to plug your devices into means you’re on a time limit.

Having said that, there’s plenty of batteries you could bring.

Internet: It’s slim pickings out in the sticks.

While there was an EE wifi hotspot nearby at one point, there’s no guarantee of good speed and it’ll cost you extra.

Don’t count on getting 5G phone signal either.

Somewhere in between

Not having access to wifi makes some tasks impossible, but help speed up others.

It’s much easier to get ‘in the zone’ without the tiny distractions every so often.

You need to plan your workload into online/offline, to make the best use of your time.
